Description
Our organic Mentha spicata essential oil for aromatherapy is obtained from the plant with the botanical name Mentha spicata. In international practice, the product bears the name Spearmint organic essential oil for aromatherapy. The plant belongs to the Lamiaceae family, whose members are recognised by their square stalk, and it is precisely this aboveground part that provides the raw material for the oil. The stalk originates from Bulgaria, where the plantations are grown organically. The purity of the composition follows from the organic management of the plantations, so only plant substances remain in the finished oil, without preservatives and without colourants. The composition of the species is led by carvone, while limonene remains in the background among the other volatile constituents. The product is obtained by steam distillation. Steam distillation results in a pure aroma in which the fresh sweetness and the menthol characteristic typical of the aerial parts of the species stand out. The aroma manifests itself with medium intensity, and the consistency of the product remains liquid and uniform throughout its volume. The liquid ranges from colourless to pale yellow. The colour nuance derives from the stalks used, as the aerial parts determine the pigment character of the resulting liquid. The species is widely cultivated in Europe, and the Bulgarian plantations supply the aboveground raw material for this product. Storage
